Pre-school units
In 1903, under sponsorship of Milica Nicholaievna, daughter of King Nicholas, first children’s nursery called “Djetski sad” (Kindergarden) was founded in Cetinje, the Capital of Montenegro.
In 1959th The “Djetski sad” has been renamed in Kindergarten “Zagorka Ivanovic”.
Nowadays it is consisted of 3 educational units with personnel of 67 serving to about 470 youngsters arranged in 19 groups of educational age from one year to start school.

Primary schools
In Cetinje there are five primary schools, three in the town (“Njegos,” Lovcenski Partizanski Odred,” and school for primary music education “Savo Popovic”), and two in the countryside (Rijeka Crnojevica and Tresnjevo).
The first primary school in Cetinje was founded in 1834 in Cetinje monastery. In 1934 was erected the building that now houses primary school “Njegos.” Educated employees at the school were incumbent of state authorities and administration, and its pupils later became famous scientists, cultural and public workers, revolutionaries, and presently, incumbents of modern society development.
Primary school “Lovcenski Partizanski Odred” is known under this name since September 1st 1975. It was founded by joining two schools “Marko Masanovic” and “Vuk Karadzic.” Those two schools, from their very beginnings in 1955 and 1964 operated in the building of Cetinje Gymnasium. So, the primary school “Lovcenski Partizanski Odred,” since its founding in 1975 has been working in the gymnasium building. It was relocated in the new building in September 1st 2004. As a part of this school there are three chapter-at-large schools: Njegusi, Bajice and Cevo. In the school operates special class (for children with disabilities) with several children.

High schools
In Cetinje, at the moment, work three high schools: Gymnasium, Art School “Petar Lubarda” and Technical school. History of gymnasium is, doubtless, an important chapter of Montenegrin educational-cultural past. It was founded in 1880. Majority of Montenegrin intelligence was educated in this school in the last two decades of 19th century and the first decade of 20th century, and later as well.

Faculty of Arts
Faculty of Arts was founded in 1988 in Cetinje. The first generation of students was registered for the school 1988/99 year. It is housed in the building of Russian embassy. Faculty has three departments: painting, sculpture art and graphic design. Graphic design has two sub-departments: graphic and graphic design. Every year this faculty registers 20 students, 5 on each department.

Faculty of Drama
Faculty of Drama started working in the school 1994/95 year, as a department of Faculty of Arts in Cetinje. It became institutionally independent in 1997. It is housed in the building of Turkish embassy. Intended actors can choose among the following programs: acting, direction and production.

Music Academy
Music Academy was founded in 1980. The first generation of students was registered for the school 1980/81 year. Since its founding till 1996, the Academy worked in Podgorica. In 1996 it was relocated to Cetinje. It is housed in the building of English embassy. Academy has two departments-general music pedagogy, composing and conducting and pedagogical-instrumental with sub-departments: piano, flute, clarinet, viol, trumpet, violoncello and contrabass. Academy registers 35 students on both departments every year.
